Kinderhook Elks hosted Santa for breakfast on Christmas-Eve this year.

We honored our Veterans during the Wednesday, Nov. 8th dinner. All Veterans were welcome and ate free of charge. Esteemed Lecturing Knight Annie Leiser and her crew did an absolutely astounding job in serving over 110 roast beef dinners (and some USMC style SOS). On Veteran’s Day, members provided ice cream and popcorn to veterans at the Stratton VA in Albany.

On October 14th, the lodge held the Special Needs Prom. It was a wonderful event tens of kids having fun and experiencing a real prom. A special thanks to Linda Baker and her crew for once again organizing this event. In addition, the event was reported on WNYT-13 news.

The 62nd Annual New York State Elks Junior Golf Tournament was held at Orchard Creek golf course in Altamont, NY. The event was organized and hosted by Rotterdam Elks #2157.

On Monday evening, July 24th, 2017, four new members were initiated into the Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530.

On July 19th, as part of the regularly scheduled Wednesday Dinner, Kinderhook Elks Lodge hosted the staff of the Columbia County Reach for dinner. This organization provides community service support by teens, such as house and lawn upkeep for those unable to do so.

On Sunday, June 11th, the officers, members, and area families participated in our annual Flag Day Ceremony.  Everyone received Flag Pins, and were treated to Jim Yager's reading of the Flag History, and PSP and Secretary Jerry Shook's response. 

An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held on Saturday June 3rd for Mason Slovak of Valatie Troop 114.  Quite amazing the work that he has done at the Woodlawn cemetery. A certificate and a check were presented by our Exalted Ruler, John Piddock.

The Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530 prepared the annual picnic for the Ichabod Crane 2017 D.A.R.E (DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION) graduating class, their family members and other community guests. 

Installation of officers for the 2017-18 year took place on Saturday, April 1st. The event was packed with close to 100 members and guests attending.

The sun was shining when the Easter Bunny visited the Kinderhook Village bandstand this year. Soft toys were raffled while ice cream and candy were dispensed to children. Our Easter Bunny also posed for photos with the children.

On Saturday afternoon two new members were initiated into the Kinderhook Elks. This was the first initiation of the year and was performed by past exalted rulers. We were very honored to have, as guests, our District Deputy, along with the ER, Chaplain, and one other member of the Rensselaer Lodge.

On Tuesday evening, the PERs association provided a roast beef dinner to more than 70 community residents at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Valatie. Community dinners is a program of St. Luke's that runs from January through March each year. Every Tuesday evening, a local orgnaization steps up to serve a meal.

The 2017 district hoop shoot was held in Ichabod Crane High School gymnasium. Kinderhook Lodge had two winners that will pass on to the NY State regional hoop shoot. Riley Strobel won in the girls 8-9 age group and Nick Franco won in the boys 12-13 group. The tie-breaker for the boys 8-9 age group was a nail-biter that went to three rounds before a winner emerged.

Kinderhook Elks arranged for Santa and one of his elves to visit the Lodge to have lunch with local, special-needs families. Small gifts were handed out and everyone had their photo taken with Santa.

After a week of preparations, the Marion Stegmann deliveries were made on Saturday morning. This is the first year under new  committee chairman, Ben McEwan. In spite of bad weather and treacherous road conditions, the event was a success, with food and gifts delivered to 275 families.

The 2016 Hoop Shoot was held on Sunday, December 11th at the Chatham High School gymnasium. There were 24 boys and girls in attendance. Chairman for this event was SVP Chris Akers, Co-chairman PER Joel Dyslin and District Chairman, PSVP Rich Belcher.

On Sunday, November 6th, four new members were initiated as members of the Kinderhook Elks. The ritual was performed as part of our annual visitation and was attended by dignitaries and members of other Lodges in the North Hudson district.

The Lodge hosted a Special Needs party on Saturday, October 1st. The event was organized by Linda Baker with enormous support from many members of the Elks Lodge and the community.
