Originally conceived by members Don Knott and Tom Miglio, a plan was presented to the lodge to bring veterans from the local VA hospital to Kinderhook for a day of recreation and comradeship. And so it happens…..

Even the ones who didn’t get a nibble got a bite, at our Lodge’s fishing derby. The event was held on John DeLong’s property. It was a perfect day, and the perfect spot for catching the “big one”.  There will be many fish tales to be sure!

After the worms were gone, over 40 people returned to the pavillion for a bite to eat. They were treated to a delicious lunch, expertly prepared by Chef Boy R Whiskers, Chef Multo Larry, and Sous Chefs (or is it So So Chefs?) Rachael Ray Burt and Emeril Skip, AKA Saucepan. The preparation and presentation of dogs, burgers and sausage ala charcoal was a culinary coup.

Thank you to everyone for providing our vets with a day of fishing, fun, and food!
