To my Kinderhook Elks Family,
Welcome Fall! The first thing I want to do is thank everyone who worked the fair, either by manning the booth, delivering water, parking, whatever you did to help. THANK YOU!! About 20% of our members came out to help, some for a shift or two, some for more than 10. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. I understand that sometimes you get there, and it is sheer boredom, traffic is slow, so you feel like it was a waste of your time. I am sorry for that. Mornings are slower and not as much help is needed.
Afternoon and evenings are harder. More people getting out of work and coming. Fair goers decide when to come, we just need to have the manpower there in case they all decide to come at once. Please don’t feel you wasted your time, if the traffic flow was there, you would have been busy and felt more useful. Stay with us! I know it’s hard, but that four-hour shift you covered helped, and was gratefully appreciated.
Then we have the yard sale crew!!! Go Virginia, Rose and Gregg, Kate, Jerry, Lisa and who ever helped set up, sell and clean up. Your efforts brought in over $2000.00 for the Lodge. We had fish fry Friday, and a BBQ on Saturday. The Elk is in place and the grounds have been getting cleaned up. It makes the place look so much better. A big thank you to all the members that help the Lodge in any way you can. Most of you are repeat offenders, you volunteer or get asked to help and you always say yes.
YOU ARE APPRECIATED.
We need some help! We need to get more members involved in our functions. What can we do to make that happen? Burnout seems to be running quite a few members down. We’re not asking you to do everything, but if you are willing to help, let one of the chairs or a BOD members know. Working together can be very fun and rewarding!
Stegmann will be moving forward, we have a meeting October 6th, at 6 pm if you are interested in attending. Also, we are working on the next car show!! That meeting is also on the October 5th, but at 7pm. We all had such a great time this year!! Looking forward to an even bigger and better event next year. If you have an event you would like to try, again, yes I know I sound like broken record, but please let someone know.
The Lodge Crawl is October 23rd as of yet I'm going alone, not much fun. Signup sheet is in the Lounge.
Frank is working on the workers party, there will be a signup sheet in the Lounge.
The State President will be visiting our Lodge during the event.
Thank you for everything you do for the Lodge and the Community we serve.
