Wow! We have gone from basically nothing going on, to warp speed. The activities at the Lodge are bringing people in. The line dancing was a success, dinners and breakfast are doing well. The Car Show did do well. Thank you to everyone who has helped. Let's keep things going! We have fair parking and school opening in September and that means Stegman is right around the corner.
There have been a few issues that need to be addressed. We are all volunteers. We need to treat everyone with respect and appreciate what they do for us and with us. Over the years we have asked family, friends, and other organizations to help us park cars. The way we treat people makes an impact. Let’s treat everyone a bit kinder, let's be more welcoming, and treat others how we want to be treated. In your obligation it states, "to do unto others as WE would they should do unto us".
The second issue is the rumor mill. You know how fish stories get told. When you joined you swore to always protect our members, their good names, and their families, have respect for and to defend not only the member but their family. How is spreading rumors or talking about others in a derogatory fashion helpful in any way? One of the cardinal principles of our order is brotherly love, how about we all look at what we are doing and saying and strive to live up to the virtues that Elkdom was built on? It can't hurt.
We need volunteers to help get things done at the Lodge. Tammy is looking for someone to take over the newsletter and advertising. If you would like to run a dinner night or have another idea you think would work, lets get together and work it out.
Lodge yard sale will be in September, Virginia is heading up that activity. Please only gentle used clean saleable items. We knocked it out of the park last year let's do it again.
We will be having initiation during the DD visit on a Monday, September 13th . The workers party will be held when the State President comes to visit on October 30th. More details will be forthcoming.
Thank you for everything you do for the Lodge and the community we serve. We couldn't do it without you.
