Oh boy, the first ER message, where do I begin? Lets see, as many of you know this is what Ida wanted, me to be ER, and she was going to be an officer with me, she was so excited, she promised me she was going to live to see this day, but alas God called her home April 20, 2018. Cant believe its been a year already, I really do miss her…... but enough of the reminiscing.
This is new territory for me, I know I will make mistakes, please bear with me as we go through this next year. We are an Elk family, and just like in our own families we won’t always see eye to eye, we will get on each others nerves, we will even make each other mad at times, but just like in your own family, we forgive and move forward. Together, WE can accomplish so much more than separately. We all have ideas, thoughts that could work, might work or perhaps not work at all, but we won’t know until we try. Please lets work together to help this Lodge and Elkdom thrive.
Part of our oath is to never forget an Elk, We have members that have many more years of experience than most of us, and we get into a grove of asking the ones we see on a regular basis or the ones we know best. Could we please start reaching out to all members, ones with 2 months of membership and those with 20 years of membership? Lets remember all Elks all year round.
I know there are members who can’t do the physically demanding job of working in the heat, or being on their feet for hours, so many help out in other ways, supporting our meals and functions, making a monetary donation to help raise funds, we, including myself, need to remember we are all different, that’s what makes the Lodge interesting. Get to know someone outside of your circle, extend a hand in friendship, have a conversation with a new member, have one with an older member - they are full of knowledge and stories.
Jerry assures me I’ll make it thru the year, my hope is we all make it, and this time next year we are bigger and better than we are right now.
